Military members and their families will soon be able to enter Yosemite National Park for free.
The Interior Department says free annual passes for all 397 national parks will be available to members of the military starting Saturday, May 19, 2012, which is Armed Forces Day.
“We all owe a debt to those who sacrifice so much to protect our country,” said Yosemite National Park Superintendent, Don Neubacher. “We are proud to recognize these brave men and women and hope that a visit to this or any national park will offer an opportunity to unwind, relax, rejuvenate, and just have fun with their families.”
The passes typically cost $80. They provide access to more than 2,000 wildlife refuges, public lands and national parks including Yosemite.
Military members and their families must show a current, valid military ID card to get the pass.
