The Mariposa Gazette and KMPH Fox 26 have forged a partnership to bring Mariposa County news to local and valley residents.
Since early May, the two news organizations have been working together. The concept behind the collaborative effort is to strengthen news gathering efforts for both entities.
Jim Turpin, corporate news director for KMPH, said, “I am excited about the chance to work and partner with the Mariposa Gazette and its staff of outstanding reporters and editors.”
Turpin and some of his staff visited Mariposa earlier this spring. “The Gazette shares the KMPH News mission of, and dedication to, providing the best possible coverage of the news stories and community events that impact the many people who live in the area we serve,” Turpin added following his visit.
Gazette Publisher Dan Tucker agrees and believes that the partnership can also help promote Mariposa County for visitors and businesses. “This is an unprecedented move for the oldest weekly newspaper of continuous circulation,” Tucker said.
“We are pleased to have the additional outlet to reach our readers and KMPH viewers in a real-time fashion that we could not have before now,” Tucker added.
